HP teases prospect of webOS on flexible display devices

HP suggests Palm to be used on flexible screens
HP at the MobileBeat conference today raised the possibility that it could put webOS on its flexible plastic displays. CTO Phil McKinney said that the technique, which allows for e-paper like displays that can bend and use solar power, would be ideal for "products from Palm with flexible displays." He wasn't ready to commit to a timetable, but a US Army watch based on the technology is due sometime next year and provides one of the earliest timetables.
The mobile OS is potentially ideal for webOS, as it's designed for smartphones and other low-power devices.
HP has publicly promised a significant expansion of webOS beyond what Palm itself was known to be planning before it was bought out by HP in the spring. Among the plans have been webOS tablets and even web-capable printers. The expansion is widely seen as a harsh strike against Microsoft as it will likely see Windows Mobile, and now Windows Phone, either sidelined or dropped entirely. [via Engadget]
