LG announces 3D TV bundle deal

LG has unveiled new 3D TV bundles that include its Infinia LED HDTVs and 3D-capable BX580 Blu-ray player. To help encourage sales, LG will offer two free pairs of the 3D active shutter glasses needed for viewing 3D content to buyers of either an LX9500 or LX6500-series HDTV with the 3D Blu-ray player. Called the 1-2-3D bundle, it also includes a $100 instant rebate and a mail-in coupon for a free IMAX 3D movie, Under the Sea.

Despite the bundle announcement, LG still hasn't revealed prices for its 3D-ready HDTVs, though they should be in stores this month. The Blu-ray player will cost $400 when it arrives in stores, according to an Amazon leak.

The LX9500 leads the group with 480Hz panels, LED backlights with local dimming and THX certification. The LX6500 drops to 240Hz. Both come in 47- and 55-inch sizes and have access to LG's Internet features, such as Netflix, Vudu and YouTube video streaming; Picasa photos and Skype video chat are also options, although the chat option needs an appropriate camera.
