Platform said to be difficult to crack

Nintendo is reportedly tightening its security measures to protect against piracy with the upcoming 3DS handheld. Company representatives have allegedly boasted the new efforts during talks with game developers, according to a CVG interview with THQ executive VP Ian Curran.

"The problem with the DS market in the last few years, particularly with the DS Lite, is that it's just been attacked by piracy," Curran said. "It's made it almost impossible to shift any significant volume."

Nintendo has yet to fully disclose the new technology that is claimed to offer a security improvement. The system is said to be tighter than that of the DSi, which is believed to have remained resistant to cracking attempts so far.

"It's going to probably cost us more to do it all in 3D - so we want to make sure we get a return on our investment when we do it," Curran added. [via TGDaily]
