Nintendo 3DS design not likely to change
Speaking to Wired, platform producer of the Nintendo 3DS Hideki Konno provided insight into the design the upcoming 3DS. Konno confirmed the current form factor of the 3DS will transfer directly to the production version, despite a report to the contrary. He also compared the 3D screen to a lenticular sticker, which is basically two images in one, depending on the angle one looks at it from.
When pressed about whether the 3D screen could be made bigger, Honno said yes, but the idea was to make the device portable so a smaller screen size was chosen. A TV-sized display could be made, but Konno said it would require viewers to sit in a particular position which would not make it ideal for multiple viewers. Cost would naturally be an issue.
Konno wouldn’t get specific about the existence of downloadable content for the DS, but did say "there should be downloadable content" for the platform. The engineer also said that a Tag Mode Viewer will let users see how many people they connected with to trade game data for a particular title.
