China's SmartDevices to launch Android device

Chinese electronics maker SmartDevices earlier in July announced its plans to bring out its SmartQ T7-3G Android-powered tablet. The device is a near carbon copy of the SmartQ R7 e-book reader from the outside, but gets a seven-inch color touchscreen. Android 2.1 is onboard, and both 3G data networks and Wi-Fi will handle online access.

The devices will have enough processing power to play back 1080p videos, with supported formats known to involve RMVB, AVI, MKV and WMV. A 4,700mAh battery is expected to provide long battery life. A 3G-less T7 model will also be released.

SmartDevices will sell the WCDMA version of the SmartQ T7-3G at the equivalent of $292, while an EVDO model will be $278. A TD-SCDMA model has not been priced.
SmartDevices is no stranger to tablets, having introduced the SmartQ V5 in China late last year. [via iTechNews]
