Memory card must be purchased with Droid X

Verizon has quietly announced a promotion for 32GB microSDHC cards purchased alongside the Droid X smartphone. Customers will be able to buy the 32GB SanDisk card for $99, which represents a $50 savings of the standard price for the upgrade.

Using the 32GB card will provide users with 40GB of total storage, as the Droid X already integrates 8GB of internal memory. For customers who do not want to pay for the additional storage, the handset ships with a free 16GB card.

The Droid X will be officially launched on Thursday for $199 after a mail-in rebate for new or upgrade-eligible customers. Verizon is also allowing any customers with contracts ending by December 31 to upgrade without penalty.
