Kanex intros iAdapt HDMI V2 adapter

Kanex has unveiled its latest product, the iAdapt HDMI V2, which lets newer Macs and other recent Mini DisplayPort device users output both audio and video to an HDMI device. The adapter will also pass through up to 1080p HD video on devices that support it. The original iAdapt HDMI adapter from Kanex only supported video pass-through on Macs.

Apple introduced audio support for Mini DisplayPort-equpped MacBook and MacBook Pros in April, and October for the current generation 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs. Earlier models can either output or input video and not audio. Any device that fully matches the MiniDP component of the DisplayPort 1.2 spec should work as well.

The iAdapt HDMI V2 is due out later this month, priced at $30.
