Velocity Micro outs student notebook, desktop

Velocity Micro has brought out two new computers aimed at students. The 13.3-inch T30 Italia notebook is designed for portability first and measures just 0.8 inches thick. It should also last with a 1.3GHz Pentium, although battery life hasn't been discussed.

Its other features include 3GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive with Windows 7, an optional external DVD burner, Wi-Fi, a fingerprint scanner and an HDMI output. Its pricing starts at $999.

The desktop alternative is the Vector Campus Edition. It can be had with either a 2.66GHz Core i5 chip or a 2.8GHz Core i7, and ships with at least 4GB of RAM. There is also a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 graphics card, with an 896MB GTX 260 optional. All systems get a 1TB, 7,200RPM hard drive with Windows 7, and other options include a TV tuner, a second 1TB drive, and a Blu-ray reader. Pricing starts at $899. [via PCLaunches]
