Intel Core i7-970 shows up in UK at $921

Intel's first non-Extreme six-core chip, the Core i7 970, has began showing up in online retailers. The first such retailer, the UK-based Digital Fusion, is listing the 3.2GHz chip at the equivalent of $921 before any applicable taxes. The chip is based on the 32nm Gulftown architecture and is expected to have 12MB of cache.

The chip will ship in the LGA1366 package, making it compatible with most existing mainboards, though some may require BIOS updates. The chip should achieve 3.46GHz processing speeds thanks to Turbo Boost technology as well. When it starts to show up in North American stores is unknown, but likely later this month or early in August, at very similar prices. [via TechPowerUp]
