ASUS UL20FT with Core i3 due in the US in August

ASUS has quietly updated its 12.1-inch UL20A netbook with the option of Intel's Core i3 or Celeron U3400 processors. The UL20FT is now available for pre-order in the US exclusively with a 1.2GHz Core i3, while the 1.06GHz Celeron U3400 model is now shipping in Japan.

The two share a 720p resolution display, Intel HD graphics, and 2GB of RAM. Their 320GB hard drives are preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and each gets a six-cell battery along with HDMI output and a 0.3-megapixel webcam. The ultraportables weigh 3.3lbs.

The Core i3 version is due to ship on August 6, priced at $629. The Japanese Celeron-powered version costs the equivalent of about $692. [via NetbookNews]
