Microsoft to offer Zune Pass service in the UK

Microsoft has started to offer its Zune Pass subscription service in the UK. As Microsoft hasn't offered its Zune multimedia devices outside of North America, the reason for launching this service isn't initially clear, but could be used to bring the music service to Windows Phone 7, which will have Zune music support. Zune Pass offers unlimited streams and temporary downloads plus 10 permanent MP3 downloads a month.

Users have the option of signing up for a 14-day free trial, with monthly pricing set at the equivalent of about $14 per month, or $41 for three months. There is also the possibility that the service may be accessible by Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. [via CNET]
