Nikon's D8000 gets more solid details
Nikon's expected D90 replacement is getting more definitive details with rumors from traditionally reliable outlets. The camera, possibly called the D8000, would be the first regular Nikon DSLR to push past 12 megapixels and would have a 16-megapixel DX sensor that purportedly has the same ISO 25,600 sensitivity as the D700. It and the similarly rumored D3100 would have 1080p video with continuous autofocus.
Only a handful of other details are known, but the D8000 may compete in some ways with the Canon EOS 7D and shoot still photos at up to eight frames per second. Its construction may be somewhat unique as well: some parts of the body could be made of aluminum, according to Nikon Rumors, which could give it better construction than the plastic D90 but without the weight of the D300s or other mostly metal cameras.
The D8000 may join the D3100 and launch in the weeks leading up to the Photokina expo on September 21.
