Company announces jump in profits

Netflix has announced its quarterly financial performance, along with several statistics regarding user habits. The company claims that 61 percent of its customers streamed at least 15 minutes of a movie or TV episode.

The latest information suggests customers have become more likely to take advantage of the company's streaming services. Only 55 percent of customers streamed content in the first quarter of the year, while 37 percent used the services in the second quarter of 2009.

Warner Bros. and Netflix recently expanded their partnership for streaming content, effectively expanding the catalog available to customers. The existing agreement for a variety of movies has been extended until 2011.

The company is also working to strengthen its presence on mobile platforms, with an iPhone app and Android offering expected sometime in the near future.
