MSI outs 11.6-inch Wind U230 Light notebook

MSI has released an updated version of its Wind U230 ultraportable notebook in the form of the Wind U230 Light. Despite the name, the 11.6-inch notebook weighs 3.3lbs and is just 1.2 inches thick, which is about 0.4lbs heavier and just as thick as the original namesake. The U230 Light earns its name through an 11.6-inch display smaller than that of its 12.1-inch predecessor but with the same resolution.

It uses a 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 versus the older model's Athlon Neo X2 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit preloaded onto its 250GB hard drive. ATI's Radeon HD 3200 handles graphics. The notebook gets 2GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera and HDMI output, all shared with the older version.

MSI says the U230 Light uses 60 percent less power than standard notebooks. The Wind U230 Light is now available at Amazon for $400.
