White iPhone 4s delayed until 'later this year'

Postponed from late July
White versions of the iPhone 4 will now only ship "later this year," a new Apple statement says. "White models of Apple's new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected," the company claims. "The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected." The white option was most recently pegged as being available in late July.
The white iPhone 4 has had a troubled production history. It was learned early on that white models would not be ready for a June 24th launch; Apple initially pushed them to the second half of July. The multiple delays are thought to be attributable to contractor Lens Technology, which is allegedly having problems getting reliable opacity and thickness for the white paint. As few as three panels per hour may going out.

Worst Launch Ever
I support Apple and think their products are fantastic. But this latest statement proves this has been the worst product launch for them ever. By the time the white ones come out, it will be about 6 months till the next iPhone.
Makes one want to hold off until the new ones get redone. Seriously, it looks like they over engineered the product since they can't get white paint to look good on their chosen glass.
