Design utilizes 3D/2D conversion lens
As expected, Panasonic has unveiled a new consumer-level 3D camcorder, the HDC-SDT750. The design features a 3D conversion lens that allows users to quickly switch between 3D and 2D recording modes, with full 1080p resolution limited to 2D recording.
The core Leica Dicomar lens offers 12x optical zoom, while images are captured on by the company's '3MOS' system that trades a CMOS sensor for a 3CCD sensor arrangement. When recording in 3D, the conversion lens splits the right and left images and records each side-by-side in 960x1080 resolution.
The camcorder also offers a time-lapse recording mode, available in 3D or 2D recording modes, along with 5.1-channel audio recording. Recorded content can be played back in 3D using compatible equipment with an SD slot, such as Panasonic's own 3D Blu-ray players.
The HDC-SDT750 is expected to be available sometime in October, with a suggested retail price of $1,400.
