HP to ship EliteBook with NVIDIA Quadro FX 5000M

Following up on today's announcement from NVIDIA, HP said it will soon ship its most powerful notebook, the EliteBook 8740W, with the Quadro FX 5000M. The 17-inch notebooks also have up to 16GB of RAM and can be outfitted with Intel's Extreme Edition Core i7 chip.

The Quadro FX 5000M in the HP 8740w uses 320 cores and 2GB of memory, or slightly less than the 352 cores and 2.5GB of memory of the desktop version.

The 8740w is itself ruggedized, with its gunmetal aluminum chassis capable of brushing off vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high and low temperatures. Pricing or ship dates for the EliteBook 8740w with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5000M haven't been announced.

Base EliteBook 8740ws start at $2,676.
