Vulkano DVRs have PC, Mac, iPhone streaming, more

Monsoon has followed up its HAVA series of placeshifting media streaming devices with the Vulkano. The two new products, the Vulkano and Vulkano Pro, have an integrated video processor and built-in storage. They both have analog inputs to record images and can perform live streaming to PCs, Macs, iPhones and iPads, as well as BlackBerry and Android smartphones. Symbian-based phones will soon be added to this list as well.

Recordings can also be converted for download over Wi-Fi or 3G for offline viewing. Users can also schedule recordings and change channels using an IR remote or thanks to a Wi-Fi or 3G connection from anywhere in the world. YouTube as well as local UPnP devices can be accessed on the home theater TV. Monsoon promises access to Hulu, Netflix, Google TV, Amazon, Yahoo! and a full HTML browser will come in a future software update.

The Vulkano, with 16GB of flash storage, is priced at $280, while the $380 Vulkano Pro comes with a 1TB eSATA hard drive. More storage sizes are planned, with these two models due to ship on August 10.
