Panasonic shows interchangeable MFT 3D lens
Panasonic on Wednesday said it's readying the first interchangeable lens that will allow 3D shooting for Micro Four Thirds cameras. The lens has two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount, creating stereo images from the left and right lenses which are then handled by a 3D image processing system.
Panasonic says the compact lens will allow for instant 3D shooting and not produce distortion or time lag in the resulting images. Unlike other current systems on the market, the Panasonic lens doesn't need to use two lenses and two CCDs, and is claimed to not have any trouble capturing moving objects.
The lens will be out for sale before the end of the year and is part of the company's Lumix G Micro System. Camera bodies compatible with the lens will be announced at a later date, Panasonic says. Pricing for the lens is unknown.
