Bell matches Rogers' iPhone 4 price

Bell this evening became the second Canadian carrier to detail its iPhone 4 pricing and confirmed many of the details leaked out a day earlier. The provider is matching Rogers' efforts and will have its own 6GB smartphone data plan for $30, again only available until September 30. Device pricing on a new contract or a full upgrade is similar, at $160 for a 16GB iPhone 4 and $270 for a 32GB model.

The carrier has yet to say whether it will provide a partial discount for customers who already bought an iPhone 3G or 3GS, but unlike Rogers it has had the iPhone for just the several months since HSPA came to Bell last fall. Bell is already warning that supplies will be tight and warns an online order could take as long as two weeks to ship.

It too will have an iPad data sharing plan, but as rumored it will be more competitive than Rogers' offering. Paying $10 extra per month will share the 6GB plan's data allotment between both an iPhone and an iPad. The tablet offer is limited as well and should expire on September 30 along with the 6GB plan itself.

Bell's budget brand, Virgin, has already said it will have a 6GB promo plan of its own. Its pricing isn't known, but Virgin's postpaid service often echoes that of its parent.

Telus is the only major carrier in the country to have remained silent on its iPhone plans, but it should parallel the others in device costs and is usually comparable to Bell in its rates.
