Chinese HTC phones shipping with Android 2.2

An HTC China web page reveals that the China-native Desire will ship with Android 2.2, complete with Sense UI. HTC has also confirmed that all of its handsets due for the market will ship with the newest Android build instead of 2.1. This further suggests that a more widespread launch of the OS is due elsewhere very soon, as it seems to be finished.

Other handsets in China shipping with 2.2 include the Wildfire and Tianyi. Some of the expected updates of 2.2 include 802.11n Wi-Fi, 3G mobile hotspot support, 720p video recording and more, though some or all of these may be handset-specific. Also new will be access to new e-mail and news widgets from HTC. Features like quick Amazon MP3 access are unlikely in the country.
