HTC to send out Android 2.2 update for Desires

With a slew of HTC handsets getting Android 2.2 in the coming days, including the Evo 4G today, the latest news has the HTC Desire getting the software update tomorrow, July 31. HTC said the update will begin appearing in European Desires, and will include the latest edition of Sense UI as well. Desires will now support capturing 720p resolution videos, HTC's App Share widget and HTC Caller ID.

An enhanced multi-language keyboard and an indirect ability to sync with iTunes are likewise part of the update. The over-the-air update will be found automatically when the phone checks for software updates. Unlocked Desire phones will be the first to get the update, with carrier versions following as those versions of the software are still being tested. These versions will be out in a few weeks, HTC said.

The update will not affect any of the phone's content, and HTC recommends using Wi-Fi to download it in order to speed up the download and avoid any data charges. [via Pocket-Lint]
