Verizon blog shows Droid 2 coming August 12
Leaked images from Verizon's company blog seem to confirm that the Motorola Droid 2 will ship with Android 2.2. The handset will likely ship on August 12, according to two sources talking to Droid-Life. Whether the rumored R2-D2 version of the device will be the first to pop up remains to be seen, but there is no mention of this special version in the post.
The Droid 2 will ship with a bundled 8GB memory card, in addition to 8GB of built-in memory. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard-equipped phone will sport the same 1GHz processor as the Droid X, and it will have a smaller 3.7-inch display with the Droid X's 480x854 resolution.
August 12 is a likely date, as it falls on a Thursday, which has traditionally been the launch day for devices at Verizon.
