LG Wink series due with 3 entry-level handsets
LG has just released the Wink Series of cellphones aimed at younger buyers. The Wink, Wink Style and Wink 3G all have touchscreens and cater to a target audience that wants the interface but can't justify a smartphone. They all have straightforward texting functions, music options and social networking support.
Each gets a virtual QWERTY keyboard that can appear in both portrait and landscape orientations. Instant messaging software and an e-mail client are likewise built-in, each with threaded viewing. Each handset carries a 3.5-inch headphone jack, FM radio and a microSD memory card slot.
The LG Wink is the smallest of the three and has a 2.4-inch display. The LG Wink Style has a bigger 2.8-inch screen and is available in a number of colors. The LG Wink 3G is faster, connecting to 3G data networks, and also gets push e-mail support.
The LG Wink Series is due to arrive in Europe and the Middle East in the middle of August, with Latin America, the Commonwealth of Independent States, China and other Asian countries later in the summer. Prices haven't been revealed.
