Huawei outs 3G router in Hong Kong

Huawei has released details on its upcoming cellular hotspot, the E583C. The battery-powered device is pocketable and has a slim, streamlined design that runs against ype. It will share a 3.5G HSPA connection over Wi-Fi with up to five other devices, one through USB, and doubles as a microSDHC reader.

The device is technically similar to the company's existing MiFi E585 only offered in the UK and, somewhat like its counterpart, has a one-inch OLED display that will show the router's status, the network it's on as well as the signal strength and battery level. It can support 5.76Mbps upload speeds and 7.2Mbps download speeds.

Huawei will sell the E583 for the equivalent of $178 in Hong Kong. There is no indication when or if the device will arrive in North America.

    Very nice!

I won't be able to resist buying one of these if I see it in HK shops. I love my e5830, and didn't upgrade to the e585. This one looks much better than the e585. I like the form factor as well as the fact that it can even connect to non-wifi devices as a router via USB.
