iRiver to release touchscreen Story e-reader

An image and some specs of the upcoming iRiver Story Touch Edition have been revealed on a Chinese forum board dedicated to the devices, iRiverFans. The 6-inch device gets the expected e-paper touchscreen with a six-inch, 600x800 display. It has just 2GB of internal memory, but it adds an SDHC memory card slot will allow for up to 32GB more.

Like the current device, the new Story will support ePub, PDF, TXT, FB2, DJVU and CBZ format e-books, along with DOC, PPT, XLS and HWP Office files. The e-reader is said to play back MP3, WMA and OGG audio files in addition to having a microphone to capture clips of its own.

The new device is for now relegated to its home market of Korea, and release dates and prices aren't known. The existing model has made it to the US, but iRiver faces competition from the iPad and Sony Reader Touch Edition that aren't significant in Korea. [via DAPReview]
