Samsung shows 24-inch hybrid TV, computer display

Samsung in its home market of South Korea showed off a new hybrid computer monitor that doubles as a TV set. The 24-inch FX2490HD has a built-in TV tuner, a picture-in-picture function and support for 7.1-channel Dolby Digital and DTS audio. There is no word on resolution, but its size would suggest 1080p.

In terms of inputs, the panel has a VGA port and two HDMI jacks. Viewers who want to bypass the computer entirely for music, photo and video can plug flash drives into a USB port. The hybrid monitor will arrive in Korea in August, with a release in the US also scheduled soon. Pricing is set at nearly $470. [via Akihabara]
