Droid 2 dummies appear at Best Buy store

The much-anticipated Droid 2 from Motorola has now got an official price, as dummies and prices have shown up at Best Buy. The news comes before Motorola or Verizon have officially acknowledged the device's existence. The accompanying price card spotted by Engadget has also that the smartphone will ship with Android 2.2 and cost $200 through a contract at Verizon.

The phone was earlier believed to launch later this week, on August 12, which is very likely now that dummies are in stores. Contract-free, the phone should cost $600. There is no listing for the Droid 2 on Best Buy's website yet, however.

At the same time, the original Droid is listed as being out of stock on Verizon's website and Droid 2 flyers distributed in newspapers say the smartphone is coming soon.
