RIM makes Curve 3G truly official

After an unofficial launch through Rogers, RIM today finally confirmed the BlackBerry Curve 3G and provided new details. All versions give the Curve 3G on HSPA networks for the first time while still preserving GPS and Wi-Fi. The smartphone currently runs OS 5 but is now known to be upgradeable to BlackBerry 6 and will get its new browser, but when the software will arrive depends on the carrier.

The device has also been confirmed as coming to T-Mobile USA. Few details are available, but official shots show support for the American carrier getting HotSpot Calling over Wi-Fi. Its version appears identical to the rest in hardware but should support T-Mobile's native 3G bands.

Rogers is already selling the Curve 3G today, but T-Mobile and other carriers should have the new BlackBerry in August.
