iBuyPower brings USB 3.0 to all its PCs for free

Gaming PC maker iBuyPower announced on Tuesday that it will offer USB 3.0 ports on all of its desktop PCs free of charge. This includes systems that do not have USB 3.0-compatible mainboards. The upgrade will let users transfer data at up to 5Gbps, or about 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

iBuyPower believes this will help future-proof its PCs, and the company wants to beat competitors to bringing this to market as standard fare across the range. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 1.0 and 2.0 devices, but works best with fast external drives such as SSDs.
