Samsung sub-$1,000 3D TV now for pre-order
Samsung's 3D plasma HDTV plans were given away today through an order page now at Amazon. Set to be unveiled at a press conference, the 50-inch PN50C490 only has a 720p resolution but is about $120 less expensive than the next cheapest 3D flat panel, Samsung's 40-inch LN40C750 LCD. The set uses Samsung's E3 panel technology, which involves a 600Hz sub-field motion and has a 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio along with a 0.001ms response time.
Onboard are three HDMI 1.4 inputs, a USB port, two component video inputs, a composite input, a VGA input, optical audio and a 3.5mm audio jack. There are two 10W, SRS TruSurround HD-certified speakers.
Beyond the set itself Samsung sells the 3D active shutter glasses separately, with each costing about $200. [via HDGuru]
