Droid Eris to be used as Disney World tour guide
The now discontinued Droid Eris handset may soon be repurposed as an advanced tour guide for Walt Disney World patrons. The GPS-connected, Android-powered device would bring guests updates on show times within the park and Epcot Center, line-up lengths at the various rides, and deals on food and merchandise.
The theme park is thus far using a stock carrier model to test the functions of such an implementation. There is no indication yet of when the device would arrive at the park or how guests would acquire it. Whether it will need to be purchased outright is unlikely, with a rental more probably. There is also the very slight possibility that an app can be downloaded that will mimic the functions of the device. [via Engadget]
