Gives speed boost, access to more apps

A source at MaDaCo has leaked an Android 2.1 update for the Dell Streak. The upgrade may explain some of the delay in introducing the device to the US market, more than seven months since it was announced at the 2010 CES. The upgrade gives the tablet features which debuted on the Motorola Droid in November of last year, such as voice search and Google Navigation.

The new OS also runs many apps which are not backward-compatible with Donut (1.6), the Streak's official OS. Those that have installed the bootleg version of the OS report that it also gives the device a significant performance boost. [via Smart Streak]
