Most components similar to original Droid
Motorola's Droid 2 has already been dissected by the iFixit team, revealing the new CPU and overall construction. Texas Instruments' 1GHz OMAP processor is tucked underneath the DDR Mobile RAM on the motherboard, which also now holds 8GB of on-board flash memory.
Aside from the new CPU, the Droid 2 is built with similar construction to its predecessor. Both handsets share a 854x480 display and 5 megapixel camera, although the Droid 2 supports a slightly higher frame rate when recording videos. The slider mechanism has been changed, while the directional pad has been removed from the keyboard.
Verizon is now selling the Droid 2 for $200 with a two-year contract.
