Toshiba Libretto W100 US pre-orders now live
Toshiba on Monday acted on vows of a US export and started selling the Libretto W100 in the US. The system is the same model available worldwide and thrives on its use of twin seven-inch, multi-touch screens as virtually its only interface. One of the screens can either serve as a touchscreen keyboard, a custom interface or as a second display for vertical tasks like reading.
Just one configuration is available. At $1,100, the portable runs on a 1.2GHz Pentium US400, 2GB of RAM and a solid-state drive. It has just one USB port and a microSDHC slot, but Bluetooth adds a level of wireless peripheral support. Windows 7 Home Premium is the only choice of OS.
The Libretto is still considered a limited run model and will only have a short time on the market, although Toshiba still hasn't said if it has a fixed exit date or plans only to sell the model until it runs out of stock.
