Microsoft Arc Mouse photos leaked

The first official-looking images of the rumored Microsoft Arc mouse have been leaked. A German online store has posted a since -pulled listing and photos, but they did reveal that the back of the mouse can be arched or flattened for customizing comfort or portability. The mouse uses 2.4GHz RF wireless and includes a nano USB transceiver.

When it launches at an unspecified date in the very near future -- the listing said shipping takes between five and 10 days -- the Arc Mouse will have touch scrolling, the ability to be used on nearly any surface and an integrated battery life meter.

The price was listed at €70 with tax, or the equivalent of $90, but the mouse is expected to cost $70 before tax when it arrives stateside. It's considered Microsoft's direct answer to the Magic Mouse, although the current model may only support single touch where Apple's mouse supports multiple finger inputs at once. Vacuum?

It looks like a dustbuster handheld vacuum. It's funny that, when I went to the full article, the ad associated with it was for an LG vacuum :-)

    BTW Microsoft...yawn.

    Oh yeah...

Microsoft's iPad killer.... the MOUSE. The only portable that is successful from Microsoft. Talking about vacuum cleaner, it would be nice if it has built-in mini dust buster for cleaning keyboard.... an a built-in electric shaver running on USB.

    Not going anywhere

I know of nobody that's asked for a hunchbacked mouse, certainly not to improve comfort.
The vast majority will be used flat.
Users will complain that it's too long. I expect to hear "It's like dragging your wrist support pad around the desk".
The scroll pad for "touch scrolling" is interesting. Anyone that's used a track pad will wonder why you can't go sideways.

Used to be that the one thing you could count on Microsoft doing right was a mouse. Apparently the Balmer Stupidity Distortion Field has reached the hardware division.

Hey, we know Microsoft. They copy everything Apple does, even their hardware concepts.

Next up, "New hardware solutions for non-existent problems!"

    What?

"It's considered Microsoft's direct answer to the Magic Mouse"

Why, exactly? Microsoft has been developing mice for years. That's like saying Apple's Magic mouse is a direct answer to Logitech's inertial, touch sensitive scrolling mice.

    I like...

how there are no mouse parts where I normally grasp the mouse. Maybe there will be a reasonably priced expansion accessory I could buy. Although, like with donuts, it bothers me that I need to buy the holes separately.
