Toshiba tablet due in September in low numbers?

Toshiba's anticipated tablet has been confirmed by Taiwanese suppliers, due for a release in September or October. Digitimes reported on Wednesday that the tablet PC will be powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 2 processor and sport a 10-inch touchscreen, while operating on an unspecified version of Android.

Pricing remains unknown, but the device was referred to as a Smart Pad earlier and said to have both an HDMI output and USB port. The tablet's touchscreen will have a digitizer along with multi-touch capability. The sources predict production numbers in the range of 40,000 to 50,000 before year's end, or well below the millions predicted for the iPad.
