Acer to wait for Android 3 for tablets?

Acer may delay its ARM-powered, planned Android tablets until the first quarter of 2011 rather than this fall, in order to take full advantage of the forthcoming Android 3.0 software, Digitimes reported on Thursday. Google said it will bring out Android 3.0 in the fall, and the software will have minimum hardware requirements and be custom tailored for tablet PCs. Among other capabilities, Android 3.0 will reportedly handle resolutions of up to 1280x760.

Acer is still on track to bring out a Windows 7-powered tablet in 2010, however. Also on track for a release this year are the six-inch grayscale and seven-inch color e-book readers with a more direct form of Linux as their OS.
