HTC Legend dropped by Bell due to parts shortages
The HTC Legend that arrived at Canadian provider Bell in mid-June has already been discontinued. According to a screenshot sent to MobileSyrup, this is due to an ongoing parts shortage, which is more than likely to mean the device's 3.2-inch AMOLED screen. The document adds that any remaining phones should be sold until they are out, and to keep offering extended warranties.
Bell is likely to continue to provide OS updates to its existing HTC Legend owners.
HTC has gone on record to say it will to switch to LCDs for its smartphones because of Samsung's low AMOLED supply. The HTC Incredible was delayed due to similar screen shortages, and the Desire for Telus in Canada uses an LCD screen rather than AMOLED to avoid the issue.
Virgin Mobile continues to offer the Legend in Canada, meanwhile, but it has bumped its price from $80 to $100 on a three-year contract.
