Google Mobile App for iPhone catches up
Google today refreshed Google Mobile App for the iPhone (free, App Store) with features that put it more on par with its own platform. The new version supports push notifications for both Gmail and Google Calendar when e-mail and messages arrive. The alert system can be refined to only sound off at certain times of the day.
The revision adds an improved search-as-you-type function that will recognize certain queries and provide the intended results in real time. Currency values, flights, stock quotes and weather will all show in live results.
Google Mobile App is universal for iPad, iPhone and iPod but isn't yet updated in every country. Android doesn't require the app as both Gmail and calendar alerts are already pushed in the background.

Push notifications not arriving?
Tried to set this up with either my Gmail address or my address within "Google Apps for your Domain" - neither are receiving push notifications. Maybe something isn't quite setup on their end yet.
Has anybody managed to get this working?
