Dell Aero goes on sale through company site
Dell has began selling its first smartphone in the US, the Aero on its website on Tuesday. The entry Android device sports a 3.5-inch, 640x360 touchscreen. It touts a five-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a middling 624MHz Marvell CPU to run the operations.
It will have support for tri-band UMTS/HSPA 3G networks along with quad-band GSM and EDGE. Although it only comes with Android 1.5, the Aero has Flash Lite and includes Quick Office in addition to the usual free Facebook and Twitter apps. Assisted GPS functionality is likewise built into the smartphone. A 2GB microSD memory card is bundled with the Aero.
The Aero will cost $100 with a two-year contract from AT&T, or $300 contract-free. AT&T will also soon carry the handset in its own stores.
