JVC Picsio FM2 and WP10 1080p camcorders arrive

JVC this morning reworked its Picsio camcorders to give them new interfaces and refresh the features. The GC-FM2 and GC-WP10 replace the usual back buttons with a three-inch touchscreen that can show on-screen controls and full-screen playback. Although it uses a less-precise resistive panel, the screen choice allows input even with gloves.

Both shoot at a native 1080p with a specific iFrame (960x540) resolution option for Mac users that want to edit in iMovie without having the video temporarily resized during the editing process. Still photos capture at a native five megapixels.

The FM2 is a traditionally designed body for every day use, while the WP10 is designed for modest underwater use with waterproofing down to 10 feet; it likewise adds MP3 audio recording to appeal to students. JVC ships the FM2 at the start of next month for $180, while the WP10 arrives at the end of the same month for $200.
