Systems automatically switch to discrete graphics
Taiwanese notebook maker Clevo has introduced two new models, the B5100M and B7110M, featuring NVIDIA's Optimus technology. Both notebooks combine integrated Intel graphics with GeForce GT 330M 1GB components, while the Optimus system automatically switches to the discrete chip when higher performance is needed.
The B5100M features a 15.6-inch display with 1366x768 or 1920x1080 resolution options. Customers can choose from several different Core i5 or i7 CPUs ranging from 2.4GHz to 2.66GHz. The basic configuration ships with 2GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, DVD burner, and an 802.11n Wi-Fi radio.
the B7110M steps up to a 17.3-inch display with 1600x900 resolution. Aside from the additional screen area, configuration options match the 5100M.
Both notebooks are now available from resellers. The basic B5100M is listed at AVA Direct for $940, while the B7110M starts at $1060.
