Verizon pushes update for Flash 10.1 app on Droid

Verizon has began releasing a software update for the original Motorola Droid that will allow users to download Flash Player 10.1 from the Android Market. The Droid was recently updated with Android 2.2 but did not have Flash 10.1 support until now. Droid users will now have access to Flash-based games, animations, videos and Internet apps, including playing YouTube videos in the browser.

The Droid 2 ships with Flash support and the now mostly discontinued Nexus One was the first Android-powered handset to be fully Flash 10-enabled. Previous devices, as well as some lower-end current models, only have the performance to handle Flash Lite.
