Aspire One netbook ships with N550 Atom for $400

Acer's first dual-core netbook, the Aspire One D255, is now shipping in the US. It lacks the dual-boot Android/Windows operating system of the recently introduced Taiwanese version and comes preloaded with Windows 7 Starter Edition on its 250GB drive. In return, however, it uses the newer 1.5GHz N550 versus the 1.66GHz but single-core N455.

Otherwise, the 10.1-inch netbook still has 1GB of DDR3 RAM and a six-cell battery that is said to endow it with up to eight hours of life. The 10.1-inch screen's resolution is 1024x600, and the system's chassis weighs a class-average 2.8 pounds.

The netbook can be had in black, brown, red or blue and it priced at $400. [via Laptoping]
