Droid Incredible's Android 2.2 official today
Verizon quickly confirmed that it's now rolling out the Droid Incredible's Android 2.2 update today. The first wave of owners should get it as an over-the-air download immediately with manual updates an option. Others should get the update pushed over the next few days.
The update is not just an OS update but an upgrade for the device features themselves: the Incredible can now record video in 720p and has the Droid X/2's mobile hotspot feature to share the 3G connection over Wi-Fi, albeit for $20 extra per month and with a 2GB cap. Users can also tilt the phone both left and right to auto-rotate the screen, and VZ Navigator now comes preloaded for those who decide against using the free Google Maps Navigation feature.
Android 2.2 improves performance overall and includes a faster web browser and camera. Like the Droid 2, the Incredible will have Flash 10.1 already installed rather than optional. Apps can now be updated automatically or all at once, and they can be installed or moved to an SD card instead of just internal memory. Google has added Bluetooth voice dialing as well as hooks for newer features like Voice Actions and Chrome to Phone.
