Logitech Z515 and Z305 continue speaker revamp
Logitech today debuted to two new sets of portable speakers for users on the move. Aimed at primarily at notebook owners, the Wireless Z515 and the USB-powered Laptop Speaker Z305 offer two different audio options for those wanting fuller sound than their notebooks can normally handle. The two focus on removing clutter over sheer power.
The Z515 uses 2.4GHz RF wireless to connect a notebook with an included USB dongle to deliver streaming audio up to 50 feet away. The speakers include dual two-inch drivers, giving stereo sound, and include a rechargeable battery that delivers up to 10 hours of music. It's even capable of streaming music wirelessly from an iPhone or iPad and can be connected to them by putting them into Wi-Fi discovery mode.
The Z305 takes a different approach to portability by attaching to the rear of a notebook lid, hiding out of the user's sight, while spreading sound in 360 degrees. Using the USB bus to power the device, it doesn't use batteries and weighs half a pound.
The Wireless Speaker Z515 is expected to be available in September in the US and Europe for $100. The Laptop Speaker Z305 is expected to be available in September in the US and Europe for $60.
