Rogers promises BlackBerry Torch on September 24

Rogers announced on Wednesday that it will add Research in Motion's BlackBerry Torch smartphone to its range on September 24, becoming the first carrier in Canada to do so. The device, meantime, is the RIM's first to have both a slide-out hardware QWERTY keyboard and a full touchscreen. The Torch will cost $200CAD ($188) on a three-year contract.

Rogers lets users stay updated via a dedicated webpage.

The Torch will ship with BlackBerry OS 6 and a Webkit browser that will allow for faster web browsing. The 3.2-inch LCD sports a relatively low resolution of 360x480. It also sports a 5-megapixel camera, though it cannot record 720p video like some competitors.
