Samsung shows two PMPs ahead of IFA debut

Samsung has revealed images and some information of two media players that it will bring to the IFA expo on Friday. The traditionally styled YP-Q3 can play back videos and audio, and sports 5.1-channel audio support. It has SoundAlive sound processing software and is said to last 45 hours when playing back audio, or six hours for video.

The YP-U6 is built for runners and has only the ability to play back audio, but gets SoundAlive processing in return. There is a Fitness mode that shows users how many calories they burned, as well as a voice feedback feature that speaks out the most recent action to help when using the player in mid-exercise. The battery is good for 20 hours of audio playback.

Pricing or release dates for the two media players are unknown, and which markets Samsung will ship them to is likewise not revealed. [via SamsungHub]

Unlike the previous U series products, this is way more comfortable to use when working out since the selection button is not in touch.

With the explosive growth of smart phone users, the sale of MP3 players has dropped sharply. Samsung’s solution to the challenge is Q3. Q3 is a ‘return to basics’ model offering excellent sound quality. I was especially impressed with the 3D sound.

    super!!

I’ve heard from people who use the U5 complimenting on how good Samsung’s DNSe sound field is. And I’ve heard that SoundAlive technology is more advanced sound field technology than DNSe. For a regular user like myself, may not be able to tell a big difference, but to people who like pumping base sound, they say it’s pretty attractive. Actually, whether the tone is good or bad has more to do with your personal preference.
