Google talks about stable Chrome 6 release
Just after the two-year anniversary of its Chrome browser, Google on Thursday released a new Chrome 6 stable build for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. Its engine is faster than for Chrome 5 and a full three times faster than the 2008 browser originally was in JavaScript performance. Google has also made Chrome simpler, with a more minimalist interface.
The changes include a revised color scheme, a cleaned up URL box and Omnibox, combining two menus into one and relocating of the buttons. More is promised in the near future as well, including faster releases of apps available through the Chrome Web Store.
Over the two years, Google has made the browser faster, simpler and safer. It brought a more customizable New Tab page, browser themes, side-by-side view, password manager, better privacy controls, Adobe Flash Player, Autofill, automatic translation, HTML5 support and sync for bookmarks, extensions and themes.
Chrome is now a significant contended in the web browser space and has over 7.5 percent share in a field that was previously dominated by Internet Explorer.
